Hi! My name is Erefaa Ogbuaku Jnr, (pronounced Ere-fah) Owner/Director at Shades of Therapy. I am a Registered Psychotherapist, EMDR therapist, Canadian Certified Counsellor and Mental Health Advocate residing in Ottawa. I am originally from the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I love music, enjoy a good laugh, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
Being a wife and mother, I understand the struggles and dynamics of a family unit and the challenges that individuals and couples encounter. My interest for the welfare of others, and my own life experiences have further steered my passion for service.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I have served individuals from multicultural and diverse backgrounds and ethnicity for over a decade and also worked in the community serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and addictions and supporting immigrants settling in the community.
I look forward to working with you and helping you on your journey to self-actualization.

Based on your specific need, I use a client-centered approach from a holistic, cultural, trauma-informed, and inclusive framework while integrating techniques such as Attachment and Commitment Therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). Being aware that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all, we will work collaboratively to implement a treatment plan that is unique to you. in a safe and nonjudgmental space, to understand your values, culture, beliefs and reality, while encouraging you to be the best version of yourself.
